Garth and Tina Coonce
A Legacy of Faith
When Dr. Garth Coonce, his wife Tina, and their family could not find quality Christian family programming in their new home in Cincinnati, Ohio, Garth prayed for programming for their children like they had back in Cleveland.
God answered Garth in an unexpected way. What began as a whispered message to his heart at a conference on Thanksgiving weekend in 1976 became a global voice for the Kingdom of God. God gave Garth a vision, a calling, and a mission with a simple promise:
“If you follow what I’m telling you to do, you can have a full-time television station right here in Cincinnati.”
Garth and Tina prayed and decided they would obey God’s calling. Garth left his director of international marketing position with a Fortune 500 company and set out to build a Christian television station.
They learned to serve together in the churches they attended. Their hearts for service grew as they pursued God’s calling to build just one local Christian television station. Because of their obedience and faithfulness, God blessed their endeavor beyond measure.
Today, TCT Television broadcasts over-the-air, including more than fifty stations, via satellite, cable TV, and on the internet around the world. TCT features the best television ministries, award-winning original content, and yes, amazing God-centered children’s programming.
Garth was called into the arms of Jesus in January of 2023, and Tina joined him in June of 2024. But their legacy lives on. God has changed countless thousands of lives and saved thousands of souls through His work as well as through the Coonce family, staff, advisers, and partners.
